This Blog focuses on Ancestor Stories, both the stories themselves about my family’s ancestors and discussions of where they come from and how to prepare and share them. These stories may be non-fiction or fiction – we will always tell which is which, of course. Also see my KINNICK blog and The HOMEPLACE Series Blog, left sidebar, scroll down.

Wordless (nearly) Wednesday - Schwyhart cabin
The James M. Schwyhart family in front of their cabin on the White River, Stone County, Missouri, about 1900.
I am totally captivated by these old pictures. I see their circumstances, I see their faces. They look fairly happy. But it couldn't have been easy! We really can't image it at all.
It certainly is a favorite of mine. When I first got the photo and checked out the location, it seemed it might now be at the bottom of Table Rock Lake... but, actually, was up the hill far enough, it was about shore line, but long gone, of course!
Dr. Bill, I can't see the photos. This happens on some postings, maybe I'll figure it out, so I won't feel so left out. From the comments, they sound wonderful.
Wonderful photo! Thanks for sharing.
