Tombstone Tuesday - Isaac LOWERY

Tombstone Tuesday - Isaac LOWERY

This is the third brother, sons of Frederick and Ann (KINNICK) LOWERY, that I have reported here (earlier were Walter Kinnick LOWERY and Philander LOWERY). [Ann KINNICK was a sister of my 3rd Great-Grandfather, Walter KINNICK]

I visited the tombstone at the Sugar Grove Methodist Cemetery in Henry Twp, Henry Co, Indiana.

Isaac was born 10 Nov 1833 in Belmont Co, OH. He married Martha A. Modlin on 28 Sep 1838 in Indiana. They had five children, all born in Indiana. In the 1870 and 1880 U. S. Census, he was listed as a Carpenter. Isaac died on 12 Jan 1904.

Tombstone Tuesday - Philander Lowery

Philander Lowery

My 3rd great grandfather, Walter Kinnick, had six sisters. It has been fun finding each of them and following their descendants. One of the sisters was Ann (1812-1872), who married Frederick Lowery (b. 1789, VA) on 18 May 1832 in Belmont Co, OH.

Frederick and Ann had seven children, four sons and three daughters. Three of the four sons served in the Civil War. One of them was Philander Lowery (1847-1914)... excuse me, but I love that name. Below, I am noting the information on his tombstone in the Sugar Grove Methodist Cemetery, Henry Twp, Henry Co, Indiana. Philander had three marriages and 8 children that we have identified. Philander was my first cousin 4 times removed!

Tombstone Tuesday - WK LOWERY

Walter Kinnick LOWERY and his wife, Elizabeth GOUDY LOWERY are buried at Miller Cemetery, Fall Creek Two, Henry Co, Indiana. Walter was named after his uncle, his mother's older brother, my 3rd great grandfather, Walter W. KINNICK.

Walter LOWERY was born in 1835 in Belmont Co, Ohio and died in 1914 in Henry Co, Indiana.
Elizabeth GOUDY LOWERY was born in 1838 and died in 1903 in Henry Co, Indiana.
They were the parents of eight children.

We enjoyed our visit to Henry County, Indiana, a few years ago to visit many of the LOWERY sites.
