From Mom’s Diary… 1941 Thanksgiving

From Mom’s Diary… 1941

In fall of 1941, I had already had my 2nd birthday. We lived on a rented farm on the county line between Carroll and Greene County, north east of Coon Rapids, Iowa.

I’ll post occasional interesting tidbits.

Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 27:

Did up the work. Really a grand day. Went to Leo’s for turkey dinner. Del & Lil & the folks there too. Took pictures in P.M. Home at 5:00. Chores, put Billy to bed, ate & went to bed.

Here is one of the photos taken:

Here is an obviously posed photo by a photographer. Think it was taken earlier in the fall:

Bonus photo, from earlier in the year, to show all three of us!

My comments:

One goal while I read the diary is to be able to match up these old photos I have that are or are not dated, to get them in order… somehow. Never ending challenge!! ;-)

Families are Forever! ;-)

  1. Great idea to match the photos to years in the diary. I have so many of Mom's photos to scan and sort. Hard work.

    1. Yes, Virginia, it is a real challenge. When do you take time from some other project to do this project!! Thanks for your comments Much appreciated!! ;-)
